Worlds largest pipe laying ship fitted out with Safety Step products

SAIPEM, the Italian oil and gas industry contractor, were looking for high quality anti-slip products suitable for fitting on to their impressive new flagship vessel CASTORONE.

For their just launched state of the art ship, Saipem insisted on anti-slip safety products that offered extended durability, completely dependable anti-slip performance, and smart good looks. After searching the market they elected to place their business with Safety Step’s exclusive Singapore agent CHUAN HUAT INTERNATIONAL.

Largest Ship installs anti slip stair nosingsMr Harold Ng. Managing Director of Chuan Huat Intl. proudly says “ We managed to secure all the nosing for the whole vessel. This was staged over three consignments to fit with the busy work schedule of the ship”. Meeting short, fixed date docking schedules for the supply of large numbers of anti-slip stair nosings was achieved faultlessly by the Safety Step manufacturing team in Australia.

“They are very happy with our product and our services” says Mr Ng. “We managed to hold off other brands and especially the cheap china brands. Thus we are very proud of our capability to persuade them to specify only our brand, Safety Step”.

Chuan Huat Intl. is a hugely experienced and widely respected material and equipment sourcing company. “Build trust and reliability, success will follow, for sure” says Mr Ng.

Products adopted by Saipem Castorone are Safety Step industrial anti slip stair nosings in safety yellow and coarse offshore grade. References to installation of these Safety Step products in offshore applications for Petronas, Sapura Kencana, Shell, BSP and CNOOC helped make the decision easy.

Saipem Castorone has this month begun laying the remaining  718km long Ichthys Pipeline off the north coast of Australia. Once completed, the 889 km, 40 inch diameter pipeline will transport gas from the Ichthys Gas Field, located in the Browse Basin, approximately 200 km offshore northwest Australia, to an onshore LNG processing facility located at Blaydin Point, Darwin.

Before leaving the gas field, the gas will undergo preliminary processing at the offshore central processing facility (CPF) to remove water and raw liquids, including a large proportion of the condensate. This condensate will be pumped to a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) facility anchored nearby, from which it will be transferred to tankers for delivery to markets.

Safety Step International congratulates Chuan Huat International for their dedicated hard work and we also welcome Saipem into the growing family of converts to Safety Step superior quality and performance.
